Photos and campaign records

Campaign information
For an authorised campaign, Kyshik processes staff account details, animal photos, scan time, selected campaign area, optional GPS coordinates, and vaccination answers. Exact coordinates and private animal records are available only to authorised campaign staff; public pages use aggregate information.
Photos and matching
Kyshik stores campaign photos in a private Supabase Storage bucket. For a matching suggestion, the Kyshik API sends one selected dog photo to the hosted Pet Re-ID service: a side photo when available, otherwise the face photo. Other photos stay in Kyshik. The provider documentation says uploaded images are not retained by that service. The service returns animal detections and an embedding; Kyshik stores the embedding and compares it only with compatible dog embeddings. A staff member reviews identity suggestions.
Keep people out of animal photos
The matching service is intended for animal images. Field staff should frame one dog and avoid including people, identity documents, or unrelated personal information.
Offline use and access
When a phone is offline, pending scan photos and answers are kept in that device’s local IndexedDB until they can sync. Campaign data is stored by Supabase. Access is checked using the signed-in staff account and campaign role; photo links are temporary.
Service providers and key security
Kyshik uses Supabase for authentication, database, and private photo storage, and a hosted Pet Re-ID service for animal detection and embeddings. The Pet Re-ID key is held by the Kyshik API server and is not sent to browsers or mobile devices.
Questions
For privacy questions or a request about campaign information, contact the Kyshik team using the Contact page. Campaign owners should define and communicate a retention period before collecting real field records.
